| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of Operation Orange, a youth-led |

| 6 | 7 | | organization in Richardson, are taking a stand for justice, |

| 7 | 8 | | equality, and social change; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, During the summer of 2020, four young women, |

| 9 | 10 | | MacKenzie Mitchell, Isabella Marcano, Monique Mitchell, and Autumn |

| 10 | 11 | | Ray, came together with the goals of bringing awareness to racial |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | inequality, empowering youth, and advancing progress in and beyond |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | their community; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, The group was spurred to take action as outrage over |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | instances of police brutality intensified in 2020, and they went on |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | to participate in a number of peaceful demonstrations in an effort |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | to raise awareness of the issue and fight for meaningful change; in |

| 17 | 18 | | addition, the group has partnered with the City of Richardson Parks |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | and Recreation Department to organize a series of community |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | clean-up events to help reduce litter and beautify local green |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | spaces; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, These exceptional young Texans have demonstrated |

| 22 | 23 | | inspiring leadership, compassion, and determination in all their |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | endeavors, and by having the courage to make their voices heard, |

| 24 | 25 | | they are helping to change the world for the better; now, therefore, |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend Operation Orange for its civic and |

| 28 | 29 | | political engagement and extend to its members sincere best wishes |
