45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Members of the Polk County Sheriff's Office are
67 mourning the death of retired K-9 deputy Alukar on March 15, 2021;
78 and
89 WHEREAS, Born in October 2006, "Aluka" received his initial
910 training in New Mexico and went on to complete specialized law
1011 enforcement training through K-9 Concepts in Broussard, Louisiana;
1112 and
1213 WHEREAS, Aluka joined the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a
1314 drug detector and criminal apprehension K-9 in 2008, and under the
1415 guidance of his handlers, he served with the department for more
1516 than a decade; during that time, he also attended a K-9 training
1617 seminar in Louisiana, where he and his handler placed second in a
1718 national K-9 competition; and
1819 WHEREAS, Having retired in 2019, Aluka was adopted by his
1920 final handler, Detective Victor White, and he lived out the rest of
2021 his days loved and cared for by the officer and his family; and
2122 WHEREAS, Although his death has brought great sadness to
2223 many, Aluka will forever be remembered for the courage and
2324 enthusiasm with which he performed his duties as well as for the
2425 special camaraderie he shared with his handler and colleagues; now,
2526 therefore, be it
2627 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2728 Legislature hereby honor the service of K-9 deputy Alukar of the
2829 Polk County Sheriff's Office.
