5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Members of the Polk County Sheriff's Office are |

6 | 7 | | mourning the death of retired K-9 deputy Alukar on March 15, 2021; |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in October 2006, "Aluka" received his initial |
---|
9 | 10 | | training in New Mexico and went on to complete specialized law |
---|
10 | 11 | | enforcement training through K-9 Concepts in Broussard, Louisiana; |

11 | 12 | | and |

12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Aluka joined the Polk County Sheriff's Office as a |
---|
13 | 14 | | drug detector and criminal apprehension K-9 in 2008, and under the |
---|
14 | 15 | | guidance of his handlers, he served with the department for more |
---|
15 | 16 | | than a decade; during that time, he also attended a K-9 training |
---|
16 | 17 | | seminar in Louisiana, where he and his handler placed second in a |
---|
17 | 18 | | national K-9 competition; and |
---|
18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Having retired in 2019, Aluka was adopted by his |
---|
19 | 20 | | final handler, Detective Victor White, and he lived out the rest of |
---|
20 | 21 | | his days loved and cared for by the officer and his family; and |
---|
21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Although his death has brought great sadness to |
---|
22 | 23 | | many, Aluka will forever be remembered for the courage and |
---|
23 | 24 | | enthusiasm with which he performed his duties as well as for the |
---|
24 | 25 | | special camaraderie he shared with his handler and colleagues; now, |
---|
25 | 26 | | therefore, be it |

26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor the service of K-9 deputy Alukar of the |

28 | 29 | | Polk County Sheriff's Office. |
