| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Kathleen Garza of Austin retired from the Office of |

| 6 | 7 | | the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts in 2021, drawing to a close |

| 7 | 8 | | an exemplary career that spanned nearly three decades; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A native Austinite, Ms. Garza graduated from |

| 9 | 10 | | Johnston High School in 1989, and three years later, she joined the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Texas Comptroller's Office as an administrative assistant in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | support services; in 1995, she transferred to the Property Tax |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Assistance Division, where she worked in the Open Records Section |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | before going on to serve the data security and analysis team and, |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | subsequently, the data analysis team as the senior team lead, a |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | position she held until her retirement; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In all her endeavors, Ms. Garza has enjoyed the love |

| 17 | 18 | | and support of her husband, Tony, and she takes great pride in her |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | two daughters, Francisca and Josefa, five stepchildren, Joseph, |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Jeremy, Jonathan, John-Albert, and Stephanie, and 13 |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Kathleen Garza has greatly benefited her fellow |

| 22 | 23 | | Texans through her leadership, professionalism, and commitment to |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | excellence, and as she embarks on the next exciting chapter of her |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | life, she may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent; now, |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
