| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Lamar Elementary School in El Paso has been |

|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created |

| 10 | 11 | | by the U.S. Department of Education in 1982 to recognize campuses |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | that have demonstrated superior academic performance or made |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | notable progress in improving outcomes among economically |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | disadvantaged students; Lamar Elementary is one of only 26 public |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | schools in Texas to have earned a nomination for the 2021 award; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of principal Bertha |

| 16 | 17 | | Martinez, Lamar Elementary was selected in the exemplary |

| 17 | 18 | | high-performing school category as a result of student performance |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | on the 2020 STAAR assessments; it joins three other campuses in the |

| 19 | 20 | | El Paso Independent School District as a 2021 nominee; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through dedication, hard work, and perseverance, |

| 21 | 22 | | the teachers and students of Lamar Elementary have established a |

| 22 | 23 | | record of scholastic excellence, and their outstanding efforts have |

| 23 | 24 | | been duly recognized with the Blue Ribbon School award nomination; |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Lamar Elementary on its nomination |
