R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Debbie Rentería was sworn in as a member of the
Richardson Independent School District Board of Trustees on May 27,
2020; and
WHEREAS, Representing the newly created District 3,
Ms. Rentería is the board's first Latinx trustee, and her election
marks an important milestone in the district, which serves a
predominantly Hispanic student population; and
WHEREAS, An active member of the Richardson ISD community,
Ms. Rentería has been a volunteer with the PTA for many years,
holding a variety of positions including hospitality chair and
inclusion chair, and she currently serves as the West liaison for
the Richardson High School PTA Board; moreover, she established a
parent outreach program at Richardson High School, where she serves
as the Padres Unidos parent liaison; her awards and accolades
include the PTA Silver Angel Award and three PTA Golden Apple
Awards; and
WHEREAS, Debbie Rentería has demonstrated a deep commitment
to excellence and equity in public education, and her knowledge,
experience, and spirit of collaboration are sure to serve her well
in her new role; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Debbie Rentería on her election to
the board of trustees of the Richardson Independent School District
and extend to her sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Rentería as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
