| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Billy Frank Platt Sr. of Jasper on August 4, 2020, at the |

| 7 | 8 | | age of 90; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born to Earnest Newton and Loyce Beatrice Platt on |

| 9 | 10 | | May 29, 1930, Billy Platt grew up in Livingston and attended |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Livingston High School; he went on to graduate from the Texas Game |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Warden Training Academy at Texas A&M University and subsequently |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | embarked on a rewarding 24-year career as a game warden; retiring |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | with the rank of captain, he remained in the workforce, serving as |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | an investigator and hunting lease manager for the Kirby Lumber |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Company and Louisiana-Pacific; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, Mr. Platt received a number of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | accolades in recognition of his accomplishments, including an |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Outstanding Community Service award from the Kiwanis Club of Jasper |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | and an Outstanding Officer award from the Southeastern Association |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | of Game and Fish Commissioners; moreover, he was interviewed for |

| 21 | 22 | | the Texas Legacy Project and featured in The Backwoodsman magazine; |

| 22 | 23 | | and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Platt and his wife, Betty Jean, shared a |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | rewarding marriage that spanned 67 years until her death in 2019, |

| 25 | 26 | | and together they raised two children, Bill and Janetta; with the |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | passing years, Mr. Platt had the pleasure of seeing his family grow |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | to include four grandchildren, Jonas, Jeremy, Katie, and Jamie, as |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | well as four great-grandchildren, Koby, Bo, Jaxon, and Kamden; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, A man of faith, Mr. Platt attended Beech Grove |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Baptist Church; in his leisure hours, he delighted in the time he |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | spent outdoors hunting and fishing; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Billy Platt |

| 33 | 34 | | will remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth, |

| 34 | 35 | | kindness, and wisdom, and he will forever hold a treasured place in |

| 35 | 36 | | their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
