| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Bryce Wishoun of Spring has received STEM NOVA |

| 6 | 7 | | Awards from the Boy Scouts of America in all four categories of the |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America established a STEM |

| 9 | 10 | | initiative to encourage natural curiosity and a sense of wonder |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | about the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math; in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | addition, it created an awards program in each of these disciplines |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | to recognize youngsters for excelling in these areas; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Through participation in STEM activities, scouts |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | learn skills and acquire knowledge that will allow them to succeed |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | in a rapidly changing global economy; they also develop a spirit of |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | innovation that is essential to the future prosperity of our |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | nation; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Scouts work with mentors in the program, but many of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | the tasks must be performed alone; in order to meet requirements, |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | they must summon resourcefulness and dedicate a great deal of time |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | and energy to reach the prescribed goals; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Bryce Wishoun is a member of the Eagle Scout class of |

| 23 | 24 | | 2019, Troop 777, and of Venture Scout Explorer Crew 112; an aspiring |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | engineer, he plans to attend Texas A&M University; he earned NOVA |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Awards not only in engineering, but also in science, math, and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | technology; and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | WHEREAS, In mastering the material necessary to garner awards |

| 28 | 29 | | in the four components of STEM, this outstanding young Texan has |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | demonstrated qualities that will continue to serve him well as he |

| 30 | 31 | | pursues his dreams in the years to come; now, therefore, be it |

| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Bryce Wishoun on receiving four |
