5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Kim Caston is retiring from the Richardson |

6 | 7 | | Independent School District Board of Trustees in 2021, drawing to a |

7 | 8 | | close an outstanding tenure that has spanned nearly a decade and a |

8 | 9 | | half; and |
---|
9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, First elected to the Richardson ISD board in 2007, |
---|
10 | 11 | | Kim Caston currently serves as treasurer, and over the years, she |
---|
11 | 12 | | has also held the titles of president, vice president, and |
---|
12 | 13 | | secretary; she has further supported area schools as PTA president, |
---|
13 | 14 | | president of the J. J. Pearce High School Athletic Booster Club, and |
---|
14 | 15 | | director of the Pearce Excellence in Education Foundation; |
---|
15 | 16 | | moreover, she chaired a community bond campaign and has lent her |
---|
16 | 17 | | expertise to the district's budget review and planning committees; |
---|
17 | 18 | | and |

18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Among her many accomplishments, Ms. Caston has |

19 | 20 | | worked with the Texas PTA and the Texas Association of School Boards |
---|
20 | 21 | | in guiding education initiatives; she is affiliated with such |

21 | 22 | | organizations as Leadership TASB and the North Texas Area |
---|
22 | 23 | | Association of School Boards, and she co-chairs the board of |
---|
23 | 24 | | trustees steering committee for the North Texas Regional |
---|
24 | 25 | | Consortium; she is also a Fellow with the Center for Reform of |
---|
25 | 26 | | School Systems, and she is a founding partner of Communications & |
---|
26 | 27 | | Management Consulting, a group that supports school districts and |
---|
27 | 28 | | boards; and |
---|
28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Caston has been honored with a Heroes for |
---|
29 | 30 | | Children award from the State Board of Education and has received |
---|
30 | 31 | | the Texas PTA Honorary Life Membership, Extended Service, and |
---|
31 | 32 | | Golden Apple Awards; a graduate of Leadership Richardson, she has |
---|
32 | 33 | | served on the Richardson Chamber of Commerce Public Policy |
---|
33 | 34 | | Committee and is a founding member of the Pearce Community Women's |
---|
34 | 35 | | League; and |
---|
35 | 36 | | WHEREAS, In her other professional work, Ms. Caston spent 17 |

36 | 37 | | years in the beverage industry, including a decade in executive |
---|
37 | 38 | | management with The Coca-Cola Company; she earned a business |
---|
38 | 39 | | administration degree from the University of Arkansas and a |
---|
39 | 40 | | master's degree in marketing from Louisiana State University; and |

40 | 41 | | WHEREAS, Kim Caston has enriched the lives of many young |
---|
41 | 42 | | Texans through her steadfast commitment to public education, and |
---|
42 | 43 | | she may reflect with pride on her myriad achievements; now, |

43 | 44 | | therefore, be it |

44 | 45 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

45 | 46 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Kim Caston on her retirement from |

46 | 47 | | the Richardson ISD Board of Trustees and extend to her sincere best |

47 | 48 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
