45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The residents of Texas are mourning the tragic loss
67 of Trooper Chad Michael Walker of the Texas Department of Public
78 Safety, who passed away on March 28, 2021, after being shot in the
89 line of duty; and
910 WHEREAS, Born in Corsicana on May 21, 1982, Chad Walker was
1011 the son of Michael Lynn Walker and Brenda Kay Warren Walker; he grew
1112 up in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School in 2000;
1213 and
1314 WHEREAS, Trooper Walker began his law enforcement career in
1415 2003, when he joined the Athens Police Department; he went on to
1516 serve the Groesbeck Police Department and the Limestone County
1617 Sheriff's office before becoming a DPS trooper in 2015; stationed
1718 in his hometown, he was a prominent and beloved figure in the
1819 Groesbeck area, and his involvement in the local community included
1920 service on the Limestone County Farm Bureau Board of Directors; and
2021 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Trooper Walker benefited from
2122 the love and support of his wife, Tobie, and he was a devoted father
2223 to his four children, Ethan, Rylee, Charlee, and Tulsa June; he took
2324 great enjoyment in the outdoors and spent many happy hours hunting,
2425 fishing in the Navasota River and Lake Limestone, and looking after
2526 his cattle; a man of strong faith, he was a valued congregant of
2627 Living Proof Church in Groesbeck; and
2728 WHEREAS, This courageous Texan embodied the highest ideals of
2829 the law enforcement profession, and his heroism and sacrifice will
2930 long be remembered by all those who had the good fortune to know
3031 him; now, therefore, be it
3132 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3233 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of DPS Trooper Chad
3334 Michael Walker and extend sincere condolences to the members of his
3435 family: to his wife, Tobie Walker; to his children, Ethan, Rylee,
3536 Charlee, and Tulsa June Walker; to his parents, Mike and Brenda
3637 Walker; to his paternal grandparents, Dennis and Barbara Walker; to
3738 his aunts, uncles, and cousins; and to his other relatives and many
3839 friends; and, be it further
3940 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4041 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4142 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Trooper
4243 Chad Walker.
