55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, March for Life has demonstrated outstanding public
77 spirit through its dedication to the advancement of the pro-life
88 movement; and
99 WHEREAS, On January 22, 1974, the March for Life began as a
1010 peaceful demonstration in response to the Roe v. Wade and Doe
1111 v. Bolton decisions, and it has since grown into one of the largest
1212 annual pro-life events in the world; each year, thousands of
1313 civic-minded individuals gather to march on Capitol Hill, and many
1414 more express their support through state marches and donations; and
1515 WHEREAS, In addition to its annual demonstrations, the
1616 organization advocates year round through the March for Life Action
1717 Activist Network; in 2020, this initiative connected more than
1818 200,000 activists with legislators at the local, state, and federal
1919 level; it strives to make lobbying more accessible and ensure that
2020 its members can exercise their civic responsibility; and
2121 WHEREAS, March for Life has benefited from the able
2222 leadership of its president, Jeanne F. Mancini, and the president
2323 of March for Life Action, Tom McClusky; among its goals for 2021,
2424 the organization plans to hold five state marches, expand its
2525 activist network, and increase its outreach on social and
2626 mainstream media; and
2727 WHEREAS, For more than four and a half decades, the members of
2828 March for Life have made a lasting difference through their
2929 political activism, and they may indeed take great pride in their
3030 contributions; now, therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3232 Legislature hereby commend March for Life on its political
3333 engagement and extend to its members sincere best wishes for the
3434 future; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3636 prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the
3737 Texas House of Representatives.
