| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Trace Kinnard is retiring as mayor of Nevada, Texas, |

| 6 | 7 | | on May 4, 2021, drawing to a close a decade of exemplary service to |

| 7 | 8 | | his community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Kinnard joined the Nevada City Council in 2011 |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | and he was elected mayor in 2016; during his tenure, he has ably |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | guided the city with an eye to the future, and his knowledge and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | expertise in a wide range of community issues have earned him the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | respect of many people along the way; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mayor Kinnard has also served as a member of the |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Garland Fire Department for more than a quarter century; he joined |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | the department as a firefighter in 1995, and he has served as a |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | paramedic and driver and as inspector for the Garland Fire |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Marshal's Office; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A proud veteran, Mr. Kinnard served for four years |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | in the U.S. Navy before enlisting in the Navy Reserve; he |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | transitioned to the Texas Army National Guard in 2003 and retired in |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | 2010 with two decades of service as the platoon sergeant of the |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Medical Platoon 3-124 Cavalry Regiment in Wylie; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mayor Kinnard enjoys the love |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | and support of his wife of 18 years, Laurie, and their three |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | children and grandson; and |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Trace Kinnard has demonstrated a strong commitment |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | to the residents of Nevada, and his desire to serve others and work |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | toward the greater good has set an inspiring example of civic |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | leadership; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Trace Kinnard on his retirement as |

| 32 | 33 | | mayor of Nevada and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
