| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The observance of National School Counselor Week |

| 6 | 7 | | from February 1 through 7, 2021, provides a fitting opportunity to |

| 7 | 8 | | recognize professional school counselors across Texas; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, These outstanding individuals are employed in |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | public and private schools throughout the state, and they hold dual |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | certifications in teaching and counseling; dedicated to helping |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | youth reach their full potential, school counselors encourage |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | students to explore their abilities, interests, talents, emotional |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | well-being, and mental health; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, School counselors work closely with teachers, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | principals, and other campus personnel to guide students through |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | the process of setting goals for themselves; in addition, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | counselors engage with parents to support the educational, |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | personal, social, and emotional growth of their children; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, As committed educators, school counselors identify |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | and utilize community resources to enhance comprehensive |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | counseling programs; an integral part of the educational process, |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | these programs enable students to succeed and become productive |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | members of society; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Devoted to the development of our young people, |

| 25 | 26 | | professional school counselors are helping to ensure that the |

| 26 | 27 | | future of the Lone Star State rests in capable hands, and they are |

| 27 | 28 | | indeed deserving of special recognition for their invaluable work; |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
