 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Each May, many South Texas residents and visitors
 gather together for the City of Alamo Watermelon Festival and BBQ
 Cook-off; and
 WHEREAS, A Champions Barbecue Alliance sanctioned cook-off,
 this much-anticipated event features talented local pit masters who
 put their culinary skills to the test as they vie to produce the
 tastiest entries in several different categories, including
 chicken, pork ribs, and brisket; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to the barbecue competition, the
 Watermelon Festival offers attendees a variety of family-friendly
 activities, such as watermelon-eating and seed-spitting contests,
 rides, live music performances, and food and craft vendors; and
 WHEREAS, The City of Alamo Watermelon Festival and BBQ
 Cook-off is a showcase for excellent barbecue and a popular
 gathering for people of all ages, and it promises to be a source of
 fond memories for all who attend; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the annual City of Alamo Watermelon
 Festival and BBQ Cook-off and extend to the event's organizers and
 participants sincere best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable
 experience.
