45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The Honorable Kali Morgan won election as judge of
67 the 505th District Court in Fort Bend County on November 3, 2020;
78 and
89 WHEREAS, Born and raised in Houston, Kali Morgan earned her
910 undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and her law
1011 degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of
1112 Law; she has devoted her career to being an advocate for the
1213 underserved and underrepresented, and immediately after becoming
1314 licensed, she opened a family law practice to provide low-cost and
1415 pro bono legal services to clients unable to afford private
1516 counsel; and
1617 WHEREAS, In 2012, Judge Morgan was offered a position as an
1718 assistant disciplinary counsel for the State Bar of Texas, and she
1819 went on to further her professional reputation as a regional
1920 attorney for the State Department of Family and Protective
2021 Services; over the course of her tenure with the state, she provided
2122 training to more than 3,000 state employees; and
2223 WHEREAS, Judge Morgan has distinguished herself as a legal
2324 professional through her skill, expertise, and steadfast
2425 commitment to justice for all, and she is indeed deserving of
2526 recognition as she takes on the challenges and opportunities of her
2627 new office; now, therefore, be it
2728 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2829 Legislature hereby congratulate Kali Morgan on her election as
2930 judge of the 505th District Court in Fort Bend County and extend to
3031 her sincere best wishes for a successful tenure; and, be it further
3132 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3233 prepared for Judge Morgan as an expression of high regard by the
3334 Texas House of Representatives.
