| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Kali Morgan won election as judge of |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born and raised in Houston, Kali Morgan earned her |

| 9 | 10 | | undergraduate degree from the University of Houston and her law |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | degree from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of |

| 11 | 12 | | Law; she has devoted her career to being an advocate for the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | underserved and underrepresented, and immediately after becoming |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | licensed, she opened a family law practice to provide low-cost and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | pro bono legal services to clients unable to afford private |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | counsel; and |

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In 2012, Judge Morgan was offered a position as an |

| 17 | 18 | | assistant disciplinary counsel for the State Bar of Texas, and she |

| 18 | 19 | | went on to further her professional reputation as a regional |

| 19 | 20 | | attorney for the State Department of Family and Protective |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Services; over the course of her tenure with the state, she provided |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | training to more than 3,000 state employees; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Judge Morgan has distinguished herself as a legal |

| 23 | 24 | | professional through her skill, expertise, and steadfast |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | commitment to justice for all, and she is indeed deserving of |

| 25 | 26 | | recognition as she takes on the challenges and opportunities of her |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
