5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, the |

7 | 8 | | tirelessly to foster a suitable learning environment and ensure the |

8 | 9 | | health and well-being of area students; and |

9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The alarming scale of the pandemic has forced the |

10 | 11 | | school district to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances over the |
---|
11 | 12 | | past year, including the closure of campuses, the introduction of |
---|
12 | 13 | | remote learning, and the implementation of safety protocols upon |
---|
13 | 14 | | reopening; tasked with setting policy and overseeing the operation |
---|
14 | 15 | | of school facilities, the Ysleta ISD school board has carefully |
---|
15 | 16 | | considered public health guidelines while working with |
---|
16 | 17 | | administrators, educators, and parents to determine the most |
---|
17 | 18 | | efficient way for students to return to class; and |

18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated individuals presently serving on the |
---|
19 | 20 | | Ysleta ISD Board of Trustees are president Cruz A. Ochoa, vice |
---|
20 | 21 | | president Carlos Bustillos, secretary Kathryn R. Lucero, and |

21 | 22 | | members Connie Woodruff, Shane Haggerty, Mike Rosales, and Sotero |

22 | 23 | | G. Ramirez III; the district also benefits from the able guidance of |

23 | 24 | | superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre; and |

24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Although COVID-19 has placed immense burdens on |

25 | 26 | | schools across the country, the Ysleta ISD Board of Trustees has |
---|
26 | 27 | | risen to this unprecedented challenge, and its members are indeed |

27 | 28 | | deserving of special recognition for their efforts; now, therefore, |

29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor the Ysleta Independent School District |

31 | 32 | | Board of Trustees for its leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic |

32 | 33 | | and extend to its members sincere appreciation for their important |
