| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Raising the Bridge, a nonprofit organization |

| 6 | 7 | | dedicated to providing guidance and support to at-risk youth, is |

| 7 | 8 | | celebrating its fifth anniversary on June 2, 2021; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 2016 in Mesquite, Raising the Bridge |

| 9 | 10 | | serves children who are ages 12 to 18 by offering a number of |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | mentoring, athletic, and sustainable life skills programs, as well |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | as a community garden that helps rehabilitate youth who are |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | involved in the juvenile justice system; moreover, the organization |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | has implemented a capital campaign to support the development of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the Raising the Bridge Youth Center, which allocates space for |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | various recreational activities, community involvement |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | opportunities, and programs to assist homeless youth, such as a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | food pantry and clothing closet; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Drawing on the efforts of numerous staff members and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | volunteers, Raising the Bridge has helped improve the lives of |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | countless teenagers in Mesquite and the surrounding area; the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | organization is skillfully led by its chief executive officer and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | executive director, Andrew Morris, who established Raising the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Bridge after facing challenges in his own life; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Through their outstanding work to help youth reach |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | their full potential, the dedicated staff and volunteers of Raising |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the Bridge have made their communities stronger and safer, and they |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | are indeed deserving of special recognition for their |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby honor Raising the Bridge on the occasion of its |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | fifth anniversary and extend to all those involved with the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | organization sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
