| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Blanche Henderson Brick has been named a |

| 6 | 7 | | recipient of a 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award by the Longview |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the district recognizes former students |

| 9 | 10 | | who have excelled in their careers and who have made significant |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | contributions to their communities; honorees are nominated |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | at-large and selected by other distinguished alumni, volunteer |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | committee members, and the district's community relations office; |

| 13 | 14 | | and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A 1957 graduate of Longview High School, Dr. Brick |

| 15 | 16 | | earned a bachelor's degree at Baylor University, master's degrees |

| 16 | 17 | | at George Washington University and the University of Hawaii, and a |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | doctorate in education, curriculum, and instruction at Texas A&M |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | University; she enjoyed a rewarding career in education, serving |

| 19 | 20 | | with schools in Longview, Dallas, Hawaii, and Pakistan before |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | retiring in 2017; highly dedicated to her community, she was twice |

| 21 | 22 | | elected to the College Station City Council, and she has served on |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | the boards of a number of civic organizations; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The accomplishments of noteworthy alumni are a |

| 24 | 25 | | source of great pride to all those associated with Longview ISD, and |

| 25 | 26 | | Blanche Brick is indeed deserving of this prestigious honor; now, |
