 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Navarro County has lost a revered member of the
 community with the passing of Dr. Kent Rogers, the county health
 director and longtime Corsicana school board president, on January
 30, 2021, at the age of 75; and
 WHEREAS, Born on December 8, 1945, in Arkansas City, Kansas,
 Kent Rogers grew up in Mount Pleasant; he studied at Rice University
 and earned his medical degree from The University of Texas
 Southwestern Medical School, and following two years of service in
 the United States Navy, he completed his residency at Parkland
 Hospital; and
 WHEREAS, For several decades, Dr. Rogers practiced as a
 physician at various Corsicana medical providers, including
 Medical Arts Clinic, Trinity Clinic, Medical and Surgical
 Associates of Corsicana, and Navarro Regional Hospital, where he
 served as the institution's chief of staff and as medical director
 of its ICU; for 30 years, he also volunteered as a team physician
 for the Corsicana Tigers football program, a role he heartily
 enjoyed; and
 WHEREAS, Dr. Rogers's interest in public education led him to
 run for a seat on the Corsicana ISD Board of Trustees, and his more
 than 20-year tenure included presiding over the board from 1992 to
 2010 and again from 2014 to 2021; he further benefited his fellow
 Texans through his service as director of the Corsicana/Navarro
 County Health Department and medical director of The Village at
 Heritage Oaks Retirement and Assisted Living Facility; over the
 past year, as one of Corsicana's leading health authorities, he had
 been instrumental in helping the community to navigate the COVID-19
 crisis; in all his endeavors, he enjoyed the love and support of his
 wife, Donna Jo, and his three children, Cyndi, Susan, and Mark; and
 WHEREAS, A man of rare compassion, character, and wisdom,
 Dr. Kent Rogers earned a special place in the hearts of innumerable
 people, and he leaves behind a legacy that will forever be
 cherished; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Dr. Kent Rogers and
 extend deepest sympathy to his loved ones and many friends; and, be
 it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Kent
 Rogers.
