| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life well lived may help to comfort the |

| 6 | 7 | | loved ones of Caroline Virginia Ellwood Sullivan of San Antonio, |

| 7 | 8 | | who passed away on March 29, 2021, at the age of 73; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The former Carol Ellwood was born in Mexico City on |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | August 15, 1947; she attended Limestone College in Gaffney, South |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Carolina, and on August 10, 1968, she married John Paul Sullivan in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | her hometown of Mexico City; her husband's 21-year career in the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | United States Army took the couple abroad to Turkey and Panama, as |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | well as to various postings in Arizona, Texas, North Carolina, and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Washington, D.C.; after Mr. Sullivan retired from his military |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | career, they resided in Eagle Pass and in San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Sullivan was the loving mother of two children, |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Caroline Cecelia and John Richard; she was also devoted to her |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | Episcopalian faith, and she volunteered her time with the Altar |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Guild; other organizations that benefited from her involvement were |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | the Girl Scouts, Rotary International, and the Library Foundation |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | of Eagle Pass; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Always warm and welcoming, Mrs. Sullivan embodied |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | the saying "Mi casa es tu casa" as she graciously opened her home to |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | extended family, friends, neighbors, and others, and she was a |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | superb cook who was especially known for her enchiladas suizas; she |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | blessed those around her through her many acts of kindness, as well |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | as through her deep loyalty and her optimistic worldview; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Although Carol Sullivan is deeply missed, all those |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | who held her dear will forever remember the joy, laughter, and love |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | that she brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 32 | 33 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Caroline Virginia |

| 33 | 34 | | Ellwood Sullivan and extend heartfelt sympathy to her family and |

| 34 | 35 | | friends; and, be it further |

| 35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

|---|
| 37 | 38 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Carol |
