| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Getz has made a positive and lasting |

| 6 | 7 | | difference in his community of faith during his longtime service in |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 1972, Dr. Getz began his involvement in church |

| 9 | 10 | | planting and launched the Fellowship Bible Church movement, which |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | has led to the establishment of hundreds of congregations |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | throughout the nation, including several in the Dallas area; he |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | currently serves as president of the Center for Church Renewal, a |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | nonprofit organization he started in 1978, and he is pastor |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | emeritus of Chase Oaks Church in Plano; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Following his retirement from the pastorate, |

| 16 | 17 | | Dr. Getz completed work on his interactive Life Essentials Study |

| 17 | 18 | | Bible, which is used by people around the world and has also been |

| 18 | 19 | | released in Spanish; furthermore, he produces Bible Principles, a |

| 19 | 20 | | daily radio broadcast that airs on a number of stations, and he is |

| 20 | 21 | | the author of more than 60 books, including The Measure of a Man: |

| 21 | 22 | | Twenty Attributes of a Godly Man; and |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Getz graduated from Moody Bible Institute, and |

| 23 | 24 | | he later taught there and at Dallas Theological Seminary; he holds a |

| 24 | 25 | | master's degree from Wheaton College Graduate School and a Ph.D. |

| 25 | 26 | | from New York University; and |

| 26 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Gene Getz exemplifies the highest standards of |

| 27 | 28 | | his vocation, and he has inspired innumerable Texans through his |

| 28 | 29 | | message of faith and goodwill; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commend Dr. Gene Getz for his many years of |
