45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close
67 with the passing of John Edward Chase of Aledo on January 14, 2020,
78 at the age of 73; and
89 WHEREAS, Born on December 7, 1946, John Chase was the adopted
910 son of Johnny and Margaret Burgoon, and he later took the name of
1011 his stepfather, Hubert L. Chase; he graduated from Paschal High
1112 School in 1964 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in civil
1213 engineering from Texas Tech University in 1969; and
1314 WHEREAS, Mr. Chase spent most of his career with the Texas
1415 Department of Transportation, and he worked for more than three
1516 decades in Fort Worth, where he designed bridges and supervised a
1617 team of engineers; an accomplished craftsman and machinist, he also
1718 operated his own carpentry and custom knife-making businesses; and
1819 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Chase was blessed with the
1920 love and support of his wife, Pamela, with whom he shared a
2021 rewarding marriage of nearly 51 years; he was the devoted father of
2122 two sons, Brian and David, and he took great pride in his five
2223 grandchildren, Austin, Andrew, Caroline, Aby, and Ryan; a man of
2324 many interests, he enjoyed archery, target shooting, photography,
2425 art, and music, and he also delighted in spending time outdoors;
2526 moreover, he served as an elder at Trinity Bible Church, where he
2627 provided spiritual guidance to others through his shop ministry;
2728 and
2829 WHEREAS, John Chase possessed a generosity of spirit that
2930 expressed itself in myriad ways, and he enriched the lives of
3031 countless people with his warmth and kindness; now, therefore, be
3132 it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of John Edward Chase and
3435 extend heartfelt sympathy to his many relatives and friends; and,
3536 be it further
3637 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3738 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3839 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of John Chase.
