| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Roger Harold Walter Haug of Lockhart on December 25, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2019, at the age of 76; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born on October 19, 1943, in Seguin, Roger Haug was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | the son of Otto and Otillia Haug; he grew up with two older |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | brothers, Otto and Lawrence, and graduated from Seguin High School |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | in 1961; answering his nation's call to duty, he enlisted in the |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | U.S. Air Force and served as a ground power mechanic at duty |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | stations in El Paso and on the island of Formosa; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Upon returning to Seguin, Mr. Haug took a job at the |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Guadalupe Valley Electrical Cooperative; he went on to realize his |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | childhood dream of becoming a state game warden with the Texas Parks |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | and Wildlife Department, and he attended Texas A&M University for |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | his law enforcement and wildlife training; commissioned in February |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | 1968, he spent a year in Victoria before transferring to Caldwell |

| 20 | 21 | | County, where he served until his retirement on October 31, 1993; he |

| 21 | 22 | | then pursued another long-held dream and worked as a cattle rancher |

| 22 | 23 | | for several years before selling his business in 2000; in his |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling, |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | especially to Alaska and the Panama Canal; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Haug enjoyed the love and |

| 26 | 27 | | support of his wife, the former Beverly Jean Haecker, with whom he |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | shared five decades of marriage; he took great pride in their two |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | children, Laurie and Travis, and seven grandchildren; and |

| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Roger Haug is deeply missed, he has left |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | forever treasure; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
