45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the
67 passing of Roger Harold Walter Haug of Lockhart on December 25,
78 2019, at the age of 76; and
89 WHEREAS, Born on October 19, 1943, in Seguin, Roger Haug was
910 the son of Otto and Otillia Haug; he grew up with two older
1011 brothers, Otto and Lawrence, and graduated from Seguin High School
1112 in 1961; answering his nation's call to duty, he enlisted in the
1213 U.S. Air Force and served as a ground power mechanic at duty
1314 stations in El Paso and on the island of Formosa; and
1415 WHEREAS, Upon returning to Seguin, Mr. Haug took a job at the
1516 Guadalupe Valley Electrical Cooperative; he went on to realize his
1617 childhood dream of becoming a state game warden with the Texas Parks
1718 and Wildlife Department, and he attended Texas A&M University for
1819 his law enforcement and wildlife training; commissioned in February
1920 1968, he spent a year in Victoria before transferring to Caldwell
2021 County, where he served until his retirement on October 31, 1993; he
2122 then pursued another long-held dream and worked as a cattle rancher
2223 for several years before selling his business in 2000; in his
2324 leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and traveling,
2425 especially to Alaska and the Panama Canal; and
2526 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Haug enjoyed the love and
2627 support of his wife, the former Beverly Jean Haecker, with whom he
2728 shared five decades of marriage; he took great pride in their two
2829 children, Laurie and Travis, and seven grandchildren; and
2930 WHEREAS, Although Roger Haug is deeply missed, he has left
3031 his family and friends with a wealth of memories that they will
3132 forever treasure; now, therefore, be it
3233 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3334 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Roger Harold Walter
3435 Haug and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to
3536 his wife, Beverly; to his daughter, Laurie, and her husband,
3637 Patrick; to his son, Travis, and his wife, Monica; to his
3738 grandchildren, Alyssa, Marilyn, Jodi, Sydney, Hunter, Hannah, and
3839 Haylee; to his brother-in-law, Jerry, and his wife Belinda; to his
3940 nieces and nephews; and to his many other relatives and friends;
4041 and, be it further
4142 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4243 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4344 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Roger Haug.
