| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The life of an esteemed educator drew to a close with |

| 6 | 7 | | the passing of Julie Anna Choate of Hudson Oaks on August 15, 2020, |

| 7 | 8 | | at the age of 50; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Born in Fort Worth on July 2, 1970, the former Julie |

| 9 | 10 | | Newbury was the daughter of Don and Brenda Newbury, and she grew up |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | with two sisters, Jana and Jeanie; she married Bryan Choate on June |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 11, 1994, and they shared a rewarding union that spanned 26 years |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | and became the proud parents of two children, Benjamin and Brittin; |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Howard Payne University and Dallas |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Baptist University, Mrs. Choate enjoyed a career as an educator for |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | more than 29 years; she began as a teacher at Deer Creek Elementary |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | School in the Crowley Independent School District and eventually |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | became an assistant principal in the district; she later joined the |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | faculty of Aledo ISD and spent more than a decade at McCall |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Elementary School, where she served first as assistant principal |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | and then as principal; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In honor of Mrs. Choate's significant contributions |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | to her community, the Julie Choate Higher Education Fund has been |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | established for her son, who graduated from Aledo High School in |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | 2019, and her daughter, who is a junior at Aledo High; Mrs. Choate |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | was a valued congregant of Trinity Bible Church, and she drew |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | strength from her deep and abiding faith throughout her life; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Julie Choate possessed a generosity of spirit that |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | expressed itself in myriad ways, and her example of grace, |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | optimism, and compassion will forever be a source of inspiration to |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | those she leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Julie Anna Choate and |

| 34 | 35 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn her passing; and, be it |
