10 | 11 | | response, Samantha Pickett has ably led the Ellis County Emergency |

11 | 12 | | Management team, which coordinates efforts before, during, and |

12 | 13 | | after disasters; in addition, numerous county and city officials |
---|
13 | 14 | | have been a source of guidance and relief to area residents; and |

14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, First responders and medical personnel throughout |

15 | 16 | | Ellis County have demonstrated an exceptional commitment to |

16 | 17 | | ensuring the health and safety of their fellow Texans; Dr. Leigh |

17 | 18 | | Nordstrom has served as the appointed health authority, and since |

18 | 19 | | March 2020, she has been instrumental in the implementation of the |
---|
19 | 20 | | county's vaccination program; moreover, the administrators and |
---|
20 | 21 | | staff of Methodist Midlothian Medical Center and Ennis Regional |
---|
21 | 22 | | Medical Center have continued to provide patients with vital |
---|
22 | 23 | | medical care while adapting to the challenges posed by the |
---|
23 | 24 | | pandemic; and |

24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The county's recovery efforts have been further |

25 | 26 | | strengthened by local organizations and the generous volunteers |

26 | 27 | | that serve them; many clinics and pharmacies have diligently |
---|
27 | 28 | | administered vaccines, and Baylor Scott & White Health helped |

28 | 29 | | establish a vaccination hub at the Waxahachie Senior Activity |

29 | 30 | | Center; other organizations and churches have provided food, |

30 | 31 | | emotional support, and financial assistance to people in need; and |

31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, Although the COVID-19 pandemic has placed immense |

32 | 33 | | burdens on our communities, residents of Ellis County have been |

33 | 34 | | indeed fortunate to count so many selfless and committed leaders |

34 | 35 | | among their fellow citizens; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
---|
36 | 37 | | Legislature hereby commend the community leaders, health care |
---|
37 | 38 | | professionals, organizations, and volunteers of Ellis County for |
---|
38 | 39 | | their contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic and extend to them |
---|
39 | 40 | | sincere appreciation for their continuing efforts. |
