| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Avalon Independent School District is making a |

| 7 | 8 | | with a solid educational foundation on which to build; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Serving approximately 350 students, Avalon ISD |

| 9 | 10 | | seeks to foster a challenging and supportive learning environment |

| 10 | 11 | | where young people are equipped to excel in every aspect of their |

| 11 | 12 | | education; located in a rural community in southern Ellis County, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | the district conducts prekindergarten through 12th grade classes at |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | one campus, Avalon School, which boasts an average |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | student-to-teacher ratio of 11 to 1; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Avalon ISD is ably guided by superintendent |

| 16 | 17 | | Khristopher Marshall, and it also benefits from the leadership of |

| 17 | 18 | | its board of trustees, which includes president Todd Bruner, vice |

| 18 | 19 | | president David Arriaga, secretary Wendy Rodriguez, and members |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Timothy Cashion, Shane Gill, Victor Ledesma, and Stacy Wilson; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The administrators, teachers, staff, and school |

| 21 | 22 | | board of Avalon ISD have helped to provide many young Texans with |

| 22 | 23 | | the knowledge and skills they need to become productive members of |

| 23 | 24 | | society, and the district is indeed deserving of special |

| 24 | 25 | | recognition for its significant contributions; now, therefore, be |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature hereby honor the Avalon Independent School District for |
