| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 662, Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 662.114 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 662.114. UTERINE FIBROIDS AWARENESS MONTH. (a) July | |
| 13 | 13 | is Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month to increase awareness of | |
| 14 | 14 | uterine fibroids and to: | |
| 15 | 15 | (1) encourage education and research on uterine | |
| 16 | 16 | fibroids; | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) improve methods for identifying signs and symptoms | |
| 18 | 18 | of uterine fibroids; | |
| 19 | 19 | (3) improve methods for preventing, diagnosing, and | |
| 20 | 20 | treating uterine fibroids; and | |
| 21 | 21 | (4) encourage the establishment of a public education | |
| 22 | 22 | campaign that includes health seminars, medical information | |
| 23 | 23 | panels, community programs, and funding opportunities. | |
| 24 | 24 | (b) Uterine Fibroids Awareness Month shall be regularly | |
| 25 | 25 | observed through appropriate programs and activities to increase | |
| 26 | 26 | awareness of uterine fibroids. | |
| 27 | 27 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
