55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the composition of the court of appeals districts.
88 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
99 SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to make a statewide
1010 reapportionment of the court of appeals districts into which this
1111 state is divided under Section 6, Article V, Texas Constitution.
1212 SECTION 2. Sections 22.201(f), (g), and (m), Government
1313 Code, are amended to read as follows:
1414 (f) The Fifth Court of Appeals District is composed of the
1515 counties of Collin, Dallas, Grayson, [Hunt,] Kaufman, and Rockwall.
1616 (g) The Sixth Court of Appeals District is composed of the
1717 counties of Bowie, Camp, Cass, Delta, Fannin, Franklin, [Gregg,]
1818 Harrison, Hopkins, Hunt, Lamar, Marion, Morris, Panola, Red River,
1919 [Rusk,] Titus, Upshur, and Wood.
2020 (m) The Twelfth Court of Appeals District is composed of the
2121 counties of Anderson, Angelina, Cherokee, Gregg, Henderson,
2222 Houston, Nacogdoches, Rains, Rusk, Sabine, San Augustine, Shelby,
2323 Smith, Trinity, and [Upshur,] Van Zandt[, and Wood].
2424 SECTION 3. Cases and other matters pending before a court of
2525 appeals from a county that is transferred by this Act to another
2626 court of appeals may be transferred as necessary to carry out the
2727 purpose of this Act and ensure the efficient administration of
2828 justice.
2929 SECTION 4. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
