57 relating to the eligibility of certain events for funding under the
68 Major Events Reimbursement Program.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 478.0001(3), Government Code, as
911 effective April 1, 2021, is amended to read as follows:
1012 (3) "Event" means any of the following and includes
1113 any activity related to or associated with the following:
1214 (A) the Academy of Country Music Awards;
1315 (B) the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic
1416 Games;
1517 (C) the Breeders' Cup World Championships;
1618 (D) a game of the College Football Playoff or its
1719 successor;
1820 (E) an Elite Rodeo Association World
1921 Championship;
2022 (F) a Formula One automobile race;
2123 (G) the largest event held each year at a sports
2224 entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
2325 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of at least
2426 125,000 on September 1, 2021;
2527 (H) the Major League Baseball All-Star Game;
2628 (I) the Major League Soccer All-Star Game or the
2729 Major League Soccer Cup;
2830 (J) a mixed martial arts championship;
2931 (K) the Moto Grand Prix of the United States;
3032 (L) the National Association for Stock Car Auto
3133 Racing (NASCAR):
3234 (i) All-Star Race; [or]
3335 (ii) season-ending Championship Race; or
3436 (iii) Texas Grand Prix race;
3537 (M) the National Basketball Association All-Star
3638 Game;
3739 (N) a National Collegiate Athletic Association
3840 Final Four tournament game;
3941 (O) the National Collegiate Athletic Association
4042 men's or women's lacrosse championships;
4143 (P) a national collegiate championship of an
4244 amateur sport sanctioned by the national governing body of the
4345 sport that is recognized by the United States Olympic Committee;
4446 (Q) the National Cutting Horse Association
4547 Triple Crown;
4648 (R) the National Hockey League All-Star Game;
4749 (S) a national political convention of the
4850 Republican National Committee or the Democratic National
4951 Committee;
5052 (T) an Olympic activity, including a Junior or
5153 Senior activity, training program, or feeder program sanctioned by
5254 the United States Olympic Committee's Community Olympic
5355 Development Program;
5456 (U) a presidential general election debate;
5557 (V) the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association
5658 National Finals Rodeo;
5759 (W) a Super Bowl;
5860 (X) the United States Open Championship;
5961 (Y) a World Cup soccer game or the World Cup
6062 soccer tournament;
6163 (Z) the World Games; or
6264 (AA) the X Games.
6365 SECTION 2. To the extent of any conflict, this Act prevails
6466 over another Act of the 87th Legislature, Regular Session, 2021,
6567 relating to nonsubstantive additions to and corrections in enacted
6668 codes.
6769 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
