55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to military readiness for purposes of the college, career,
88 or military readiness outcomes bonus under the Foundation School
99 Program.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Section 48.110(f), Education Code, is amended to
1212 read as follows:
1313 (f) For purposes of this section, an annual graduate
1414 demonstrates:
1515 (1) college readiness if the annual graduate:
1616 (A) achieves college readiness standards used
1717 for accountability purposes under Chapter 39 on the ACT, the SAT, or
1818 an assessment instrument designated by the Texas Higher Education
1919 Coordinating Board under Section 51.334; and
2020 (B) during a time period established by
2121 commissioner rule, enrolls at a postsecondary educational
2222 institution;
2323 (2) career readiness if the annual graduate:
2424 (A) achieves college readiness standards used
2525 for accountability purposes under Chapter 39 on the ACT, the SAT, or
2626 an assessment instrument designated by the Texas Higher Education
2727 Coordinating Board under Section 51.334; and
2828 (B) during a time period established by
2929 commissioner rule, earns an industry-accepted certificate; and
3030 (3) military readiness if the annual graduate:
3131 (A) achieves a passing score set by the
3232 applicable military branch on the Armed Services Vocational
3333 Aptitude Battery; and
3434 (B) during a time period established by
3535 commissioner rule, enlists in the armed forces of the United States
3636 or the Texas National Guard.
3737 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
