9 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 437, Government Code, is |
---|
11 | 10 | | amended by adding Section 437.164 to read as follows: |
---|
12 | 11 | | Sec. 437.164. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS STUDY. (a) The |
---|
13 | 12 | | department shall study the following facilities of the Texas |
---|
14 | 13 | | military forces to determine the facility's preparedness for |
---|
15 | 14 | | natural disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, severe storms, |
---|
16 | 15 | | floods, and extreme weather events: |
---|
17 | 16 | | (1) Camp Bowie; |
---|
18 | 17 | | (2) Camp Maxey; |
---|
19 | 18 | | (3) Camp Swift; |
---|
20 | 19 | | (4) Fort Wolters; |
---|
21 | 20 | | (5) Camp Mabry; and |
---|
22 | 21 | | (6) the facilities located at Austin-Bergstrom |
---|
23 | 22 | | International Airport. |
---|
24 | 23 | | (b) The department shall identify enhancements to each |
---|
25 | 24 | | facility necessary to improve the installation's disaster |
---|
26 | 25 | | preparedness. |
---|
27 | 26 | | (c) Not later than December 1, 2022, the department shall |
---|
28 | 27 | | report its findings and any recommendations to the legislature. |
---|
29 | 28 | | (d) This section expires September 1, 2023. |
---|
30 | 29 | | SECTION 2. The Texas Military Department is required to |
---|
31 | 30 | | implement a provision of this Act only if the legislature |
---|
32 | 31 | | appropriates money specifically for that purpose. If the |
---|
33 | 32 | | legislature does not appropriate money specifically for that |
---|
34 | 33 | | purpose, the Texas Military Department may, but is not required to, |
---|
35 | 34 | | implement a provision of this Act using other appropriations |
---|
36 | 35 | | available for that purpose. |
---|
37 | 36 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
---|
