65 AN ACT
76 relating to a study of the disaster preparedness for certain state
87 military installations.
98 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
109 SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 437, Government Code, is
1110 amended by adding Section 437.164 to read as follows:
1211 Sec. 437.164. DISASTER PREPAREDNESS STUDY. (a) The
1312 department shall study the following facilities of the Texas
1413 military forces to determine the facility's preparedness for
1514 natural disasters, including hurricanes, tornadoes, severe storms,
1615 floods, and extreme weather events:
1716 (1) Camp Bowie;
1817 (2) Camp Maxey;
1918 (3) Camp Swift;
2019 (4) Fort Wolters;
2120 (5) Camp Mabry; and
2221 (6) the facilities located at Austin-Bergstrom
2322 International Airport.
2423 (b) The department shall identify enhancements to each
2524 facility necessary to improve the installation's disaster
2625 preparedness.
2726 (c) Not later than December 1, 2022, the department shall
2827 report its findings and any recommendations to the legislature.
2928 (d) This section expires September 1, 2023.
3029 SECTION 2. The Texas Military Department is required to
3130 implement a provision of this Act only if the legislature
3231 appropriates money specifically for that purpose. If the
3332 legislature does not appropriate money specifically for that
3433 purpose, the Texas Military Department may, but is not required to,
3534 implement a provision of this Act using other appropriations
3635 available for that purpose.
3736 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
