108 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
119 SECTION 1. Section 411.177, Government Code, is amended by
1210 adding Subsection (e) to read as follows:
13- (e) The department shall issue a license under this
14- subchapter to each applicant who meets all the eligibility
15- requirements and submits all the application materials, regardless
16- of whether the applicant may legally carry a handgun without a
17- license in this state under Chapter 46, Penal Code, or other state
18- law.
11+ (e) For the purpose of reciprocity with other states, the
12+ department shall issue a license under this subchapter to each
13+ applicant who meets all the eligibility requirements and submits
14+ all the application materials, regardless of whether the applicant
15+ may legally carry a handgun without a license in this state under
16+ Chapter 46, Penal Code, or other state law.
1917 SECTION 2. Section 411.185, Government Code, is amended by
2018 adding Subsection (h) to read as follows:
21- (h) The department shall renew the license of each license
22- holder who meets all the eligibility requirements to continue to
23- hold a license and who submits all the renewal materials described
24- by Subsection (a), regardless of whether the license holder may
25- legally carry a handgun without a license in this state under
26- Chapter 46, Penal Code, or other state law.
19+ (h) For the purpose of reciprocity with other states, the
20+ department shall renew the license of each license holder who meets
21+ all the eligibility requirements to continue to hold a license and
22+ who submits all the renewal materials described by Subsection (a),
23+ regardless of whether the license holder may legally carry a
24+ handgun without a license in this state under Chapter 46, Penal
25+ Code, or other state law.
2726 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
