| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 250, Transportation Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Section 250.002 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 250.002. MAINTENANCE OF CERTAIN ROADS. The department | |
| 13 | 13 | shall ensure that a route in the state highway system, including | |
| 14 | 14 | Farm-to-Market Road 1021, between Eagle Pass and Laredo is | |
| 15 | 15 | sufficiently maintained to allow for economic development and the | |
| 16 | 16 | provision of homeland security along the route. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
