10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 311, Health and Safety | |
12 | 12 | Code, is amended by adding Section 311.005 to read as follows: | |
13 | 13 | Sec. 311.005. WATER WELLS FOR USE IN EVENT OF EMERGENCY OR | |
14 | 14 | NATURAL DISASTER. (a) A hospital may drill a water well on | |
15 | 15 | property owned by the hospital for the purpose of producing water to | |
16 | 16 | supplement the hospital's water supply in the event that an | |
17 | 17 | emergency or natural disaster prevents the hospital from receiving | |
18 | 18 | water from the hospital's usual source. | |
19 | 19 | (b) This section does not affect the authority of a | |
20 | 20 | groundwater conservation district to regulate groundwater | |
21 | 21 | production under Chapter 36, Water Code, or other law governing a | |
22 | 22 | groundwater conservation district. | |
23 | 23 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
