| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 1063.053, Special District Local Laws | |
| 11 | 11 | Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 1063.053. BALLOT PETITION. A person who wants to have | |
| 13 | 13 | the person's name printed on the ballot as a candidate for director | |
| 14 | 14 | must file with the board secretary a petition requesting that | |
| 15 | 15 | action. The petition must be: | |
| 16 | 16 | (1) signed by at least 10 registered voters; and | |
| 17 | 17 | (2) filed by the deadline imposed by Section 144.005, | |
| 18 | 18 | Election Code [at least 25 days before the date of the election]. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
