9 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Section 48.005(d), Education Code, is amended to |
---|
11 | 10 | | read as follows: |

12 | 11 | | (d) The commissioner may adjust the average daily |
---|
13 | 12 | | attendance of a school district in which a disaster, flood, extreme |
---|
14 | 13 | | weather condition, fuel curtailment, or other calamity has a |
---|
15 | 14 | | significant effect on the district's attendance. In addition to |
---|
16 | 15 | | providing the adjustment for the amount of instructional days |
---|
17 | 16 | | during the semester in which the calamity first occurred, an |
---|
18 | 17 | | adjustment under this section may only be provided based on a |
---|
19 | 18 | | particular calamity for an additional amount of instructional days |
---|
20 | 19 | | equivalent to one school year. The commissioner may divide the |
---|
21 | 20 | | adjustment between two consecutive school years. |
---|
22 | 21 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
