55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to waiving the fee for the issuance of a duplicate,
88 modified, or renewed license to carry a handgun for school
99 marshals.
1010 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1111 SECTION 1. Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, is
1212 amended by adding Section 411.1955 to read as follows:
1313 Sec. 411.1955. WAIVER OF CERTAIN FEES FOR SCHOOL MARSHALS.
1414 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, the
1515 department shall waive any fee required for the issuance of a
1616 duplicate, modified, or renewed license under this subchapter if
1717 the applicant for the license is currently appointed as a school
1818 marshal under Section 37.0811, 37.0813, or 51.220, Education Code.
1919 (b) The applicant must submit with the application
2020 materials proof of:
2121 (1) active status as a school marshal; and
2222 (2) current licensure under Section 1701.260,
2323 Occupations Code.
2424 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act applies only
2525 to an application for a duplicate, modified, or renewed license to
2626 carry a handgun submitted on or after the effective date of this
2727 Act. An application submitted before the effective date of this Act
2828 is governed by the law in effect when the application was submitted,
2929 and the former law is continued in effect for that purpose.
3030 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
