46 AN ACT
57 relating to rules by the State Board for Educator Certification
68 regarding virtual observation options for field-based experiences
79 and internships required for educator certification.
810 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
911 SECTION 1. Section 21.051(f), Education Code, is amended to
1012 read as follows:
1113 (f) The board shall propose rules providing flexible
1214 options for persons for any field-based experience or internship
1315 required for certification, including options for candidate
14- observations that provide for at least:
16+ observations that provide for:
1517 (1) two observations to occur in person and two
1618 additional observations to occur in virtual settings that are
1719 equivalent in rigor to in-person options for observation; or
1820 (2) three observations to occur in person.
1921 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2022 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2123 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2224 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2325 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
