55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the requirements for filing an annual financial
88 statement by a municipality.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 103.003(a), Local Government Code, is
1111 amended to read as follows:
1212 (a) The annual financial statement, including the auditor's
1313 opinion on the statement, shall be filed in the office of the
1414 municipal secretary or clerk:
1515 (1) for a municipality with a population of less than
1616 1.75 million, within 120 [180] days after the last day of the
1717 municipality's fiscal year; and
1818 (2) for a municipality with a population of 1.75
1919 million or more, within 90 days after the last day of the
2020 municipality's fiscal year.
2121 SECTION 2. The change in law made by this Act to Section
2222 103.003, Local Government Code, applies only to the filing of a
2323 financial statement for a fiscal year ending on or after the
2424 effective date of this Act.
2525 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2626 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2727 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2828 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2929 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
