| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Chapter 2272, Government Code, as added by | |
| 11 | 11 | Chapter 1287 (H.B. 1999), Acts of the 86th Legislature, Regular | |
| 12 | 12 | Session, 2019, is amended by adding Section 2272.010 to read as | |
| 13 | 13 | follows: | |
| 14 | 14 | Sec. 2272.010. ACCRUAL OF CAUSE OF ACTION. For purposes of | |
| 15 | 15 | this chapter only, a cause of action accrues on the date the report | |
| 16 | 16 | required by Section 2272.003 is postmarked by the United States | |
| 17 | 17 | Postal Service. For all other purposes, including the date of an | |
| 18 | 18 | occurrence under an applicable insurance policy and the date a | |
| 19 | 19 | cause of action accrues for purposes of determining whether the | |
| 20 | 20 | action is barred by a statute of limitations or repose, the date of | |
| 21 | 21 | the accrual of a cause of action is unaffected by this section. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
