7 | 7 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
8 | 8 | SECTION 1. Section 418.108(b), Government Code, is amended | |
9 | 9 | to read as follows: | |
10 | 10 | (b) A declaration of local disaster: | |
11 | 11 | (1) may not be continued or renewed for a period of | |
12 | 12 | more than seven days except with the consent of the governing body | |
13 | 13 | of the political subdivision in a public meeting or the chief | |
14 | 14 | administrative officer of a joint board as provided by Subsection | |
15 | 15 | (e), as applicable. | |
16 | 16 | (2) Thereafter, a declaration of local disaster may | |
17 | 17 | not continue for more than 30 days unless renewed by the governing | |
18 | 18 | body of the political subdivision in a public meeting or the chief | |
19 | 19 | administrative officer or a joint board as provided by Subsection | |
20 | 20 | (e), as applicable. | |
21 | 21 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. | |
