| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 214.233(a), Local Government Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (a) A municipality located in a county with a population of | |
| 13 | 13 | two million or more, or a municipality with a population of 250,000 | |
| 14 | 14 | or more located wholly in a county with a population of less than | |
| 15 | 15 | 320,000 that does not contain an international border, may adopt an | |
| 16 | 16 | ordinance requiring owners of vacant buildings to register their | |
| 17 | 17 | buildings by filing a registration form with a designated municipal | |
| 18 | 18 | official. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
