8 | 8 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
9 | 9 | SECTION 1. Section 48.104, Education Code, is amended by | |
10 | 10 | amending subsection (j-1) to read as follows: | |
11 | 11 | (j-1) In addition to other purposes for which funds | |
12 | 12 | allocated under this section may be used, those funds may also be | |
13 | 13 | used to: | |
14 | 14 | (1) provide child-care services or assistance with | |
15 | 15 | child-care expenses for students at risk of dropping out of school, | |
16 | 16 | as described by Section 29.081(d)(5); [or] | |
17 | 17 | (2) pay the costs associated with services provided | |
18 | 18 | through a life skills program in accordance with Sections | |
19 | 19 | 29.085(b)(1) and (3)-(7); or | |
20 | 20 | (3) pay the costs associated with implementing social | |
21 | 21 | and emotional learning programs. | |
22 | 22 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
