| 23 | 25 | | a petition in lieu of a filing fee that satisfies the requirements |

| 24 | 26 | | prescribed by Subsection (e) and Section 141.062. |

| 25 | 27 | | (b) The amount of the filing fee is the amount prescribed by |
|---|
| 26 | 28 | | Section 172.024 for a candidate for nomination for the same office |
|---|
| 27 | 29 | | in a general primary election. |
|---|
| 28 | 30 | | (c) A filing fee received by the secretary of state shall be |
|---|
| 29 | 31 | | deposited in the state treasury to the credit of the general revenue |
|---|
| 30 | 32 | | fund. |

| 31 | 33 | | (d) A filing fee received by the county judge shall be |
|---|
| 32 | 34 | | deposited in the county treasury to the credit of the county general |
|---|
| 33 | 35 | | fund. |

| 34 | 36 | | (e) The minimum number of signatures that must appear on the |
|---|
| 35 | 37 | | petition authorized by Subsection (a) is the number prescribed by |
|---|
| 36 | 38 | | Section 172.025 to appear on a petition of a candidate for |
|---|
| 37 | 39 | | nomination for the same office in a general primary election. |

| 38 | 40 | | (f) The secretary of state shall adopt rules as necessary to |
