57 relating to methods by which a claimant may check the status of a
68 claim for unemployment compensation benefits filed with the Texas
79 Workforce Commission.
810 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
911 SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 208, Labor Code, is
1012 amended by adding Section 208.005 to read as follows:
1113 Sec. 208.005. CLAIM STATUS INFORMATION. (a) The
1214 commission shall ensure that a person who files a claim for benefits
1315 is able to check the status of the person's claim through one or
1416 more convenient telephonic or electronic methods. Each method must
1517 provide the person with an option to submit the person's contact
1618 information to the commission and receive a return phone call or
1719 e-mail response from the commission within a reasonable time
1820 regarding the status of the person's claim.
1921 (b) The commission shall include in a prominent location on
2022 the commission's Internet website detailed information regarding
2123 the methods available to a claimant for checking the status of a
2224 claim for benefits.
2325 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
