| 8 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Subchapter A, Chapter 208, Labor Code, is |

| 10 | 12 | | amended by adding Section 208.005 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 11 | 13 | | Sec. 208.005. CLAIM STATUS INFORMATION. (a) The |
|---|
| 12 | 14 | | commission shall ensure that a person who files a claim for benefits |
|---|
| 13 | 15 | | is able to check the status of the person's claim through one or |
|---|
| 14 | 16 | | more convenient telephonic or electronic methods. Each method must |
|---|
| 15 | 17 | | provide the person with an option to submit the person's contact |
|---|
| 16 | 18 | | information to the commission and receive a return phone call or |
|---|
| 17 | 19 | | e-mail response from the commission within a reasonable time |
|---|
| 18 | 20 | | regarding the status of the person's claim. |
|---|
| 19 | 21 | | (b) The commission shall include in a prominent location on |
|---|
| 20 | 22 | | the commission's Internet website detailed information regarding |
|---|
| 21 | 23 | | the methods available to a claimant for checking the status of a |
|---|
| 22 | 24 | | claim for benefits. |

| 23 | 25 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
