| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter Z, Chapter 51, Education Code, is | |
| 11 | 11 | amended by adding Section 51.981 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 51.981. CERTAIN STANDARDIZATION IN CYBERSECURITY | |
| 13 | 13 | DEGREE PROGRAMS. (a) In this section, "institution of higher | |
| 14 | 14 | education" has the meaning assigned by Section 61.003. | |
| 15 | 15 | (b) An institution of higher education that offers a degree | |
| 16 | 16 | program in cybersecurity shall ensure that the degree program is | |
| 17 | 17 | aligned with the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education | |
| 18 | 18 | Workforce Framework for Cybersecurity. | |
| 19 | 19 | SECTION 2. Section 51.981, Education Code, as added by this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act, applies beginning with the 2022-2023 academic year. | |
| 21 | 21 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
