| 8 | 8 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 9 | | SECTION 1. Chapter 180, Local Government Code, is amended |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | by adding Section 180.008 to read as follows: |

| 11 | 11 | | Sec. 180.008. PROHIBITING CONTRACTS WITH REALITY |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | TELEVISION CREWS. (a) Any law enforcement department that |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | employs peace officers may not authorize a television crew to film |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | peace officers while acting in the line of duty for the purpose of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | creating a reality television show. |

| 16 | 16 | | SECTION 2. Subchapter A, Chapter 411, Government Code, is |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | amended by adding Section 411.02096 to read as follows: |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Sec. 411.02096. PROHIBITING CONTRACTS WITH REALITY |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | TELEVISION CREWS. (a) Any law enforcement department that employs |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | peace officers may not authorize a television crew to film peace |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | officers while acting in the line of duty for the purpose of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | creating a reality television show. |

| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
