55 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
66 AN ACT
77 relating to the authority of a county to require electronic bids or
88 proposals for competitive bidding.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 262.0225, Local Government Code, is
1111 amended by amending Subsection (c) and adding Subsection (c-1) to
1212 read as follows:
1313 (c) A county may receive bids or proposals under this
1414 subchapter in hard-copy format or through electronic transmission.
1515 Except as provided by Subsection (c-1), a [A] county shall accept
1616 any bids or proposals submitted in hard-copy format.
1717 (c-1) The commissioners court of a county may by order
1818 require submission of bids or proposals under this subchapter
1919 through electronic transmission.
2020 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2121 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2222 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2323 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2424 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
