46 AN ACT
57 relating to parental access to public school virtual instruction
68 and instructional materials for virtual and remote learning.
79 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
810 SECTION 1. Section 26.006(a), Education Code, is amended to
911 read as follows:
1012 (a) A parent is entitled to:
1113 (1) review all teaching materials, instructional
1214 materials, and other teaching aids used in the classroom of the
1315 parent's child, including while the child is participating in
1416 virtual or remote learning; [and]
1517 (2) review each test administered to the parent's
1618 child after the test is administered; and
1719 (3) observe virtual instruction while the parent's
1820 child is participating in virtual or remote learning to the same
1921 extent the parent would be entitled to observe in-person
2022 instruction of the child.
2123 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
2224 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
2325 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
2426 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
2527 Act takes effect September 1, 2021.
