| 9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Section 12.1051, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 11 | 11 | adding Subsection (c) to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | (c) The governing body of a charter holder and the governing | |
| 13 | 13 | body of an open-enrollment charter school shall: | |
| 14 | 14 | (1) hold each open meeting within the geographical | |
| 15 | 15 | area served by the school; and | |
| 16 | 16 | (2) in the manner prescribed by Section 551.128, | |
| 17 | 17 | Government Code, broadcast the open meeting over the Internet if | |
| 18 | 18 | the school includes campuses that are located in noncontiguous | |
| 19 | 19 | municipalities. | |
| 20 | 20 | SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act apply only to | |
| 21 | 21 | an open meeting held on or after the effective date of this Act. | |
| 22 | 22 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 23 | 23 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 24 | 24 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 25 | 25 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 26 | 26 | Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
