9 | 9 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
10 | 10 | SECTION 1. The heading to Subchapter D, Chapter 614, | |
11 | 11 | Government Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
12 | 12 | SUBCHAPTER D. PURCHASE OF FIREARM OR UNIFORM OF HONORABLY | |
13 | 13 | RETIRED OR DECEASED PEACE OFFICER | |
14 | 14 | SECTION 2. Subchapter D, Chapter 614, Government Code, is | |
15 | 15 | amended by adding Section 614.055 to read as follows: | |
16 | 16 | Sec. 614.055. PURCHASE OF UNIFORM BY HONORABLY RETIRED | |
17 | 17 | STATE PEACE OFFICERS. (a) An individual may purchase a uniform | |
18 | 18 | from a state agency if: | |
19 | 19 | (1) the individual was a peace officer commissioned by | |
20 | 20 | the agency; | |
21 | 21 | (2) the individual was honorably retired from the | |
22 | 22 | individual's commission by the agency; and | |
23 | 23 | (3) the uniform had been previously issued to the | |
24 | 24 | individual by the agency. | |
25 | 25 | (b) A state agency shall establish the amount, which may not | |
26 | 26 | exceed fair market value, for which a uniform may be purchased under | |
27 | 27 | this section. | |
28 | 28 | (c) An individual who purchases a uniform under this section | |
29 | 29 | may be buried in the uniform. | |
30 | 30 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2021. |
